Learn how to cultivate closeness within the therapeutic relationship
It can be hard to help your client experience closeness when you struggle with it yourself. Cultivating an honest and close relationship with your client is an essential therapeutic goal, but it leaves many clinicians feeling lost or anxious, especially if they have not worked through their own blocks to closeness. In this workshop, we’ll teach you a step-by- step approach on how to cultivate closeness with your client. You’ll learn how to avoid inadvertently encouraging compliance, dependency or a therapeutic rupture. You’ll learn how to help your client experience a deep sense of self-compassion, self-love and self-care. You’ll then learn how to assess your client’s capacity for closeness and how to intervene where they are at, rather than where you want them to be. You’ll also learn how to help your client feel an increased sense of trust and develop the skills to set limits within their relationships.
